Tevez to return to Boca Juniors next summer; Cisse joins Al-Gharafa

Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez has reportedly rejected a contract extension from the club, fueling speculation that the Argentina international is set to return to his former club Boca Juniors next summer, .

Earlier this week, Tevez revealed that he would contemplate signing a new deal with the English Premier League champions, but recent reports are suggesting the 28-year-old will stay at the club until 2014, when his current contract expires, and then return to Argentina.

Tevez has re-established himself in the first-team at Manchester City after following out-of-favour with manager Roberto Mancini in 2011.

The following-out was, somewhat infamously, a result of the Argentina international allegedly refusing to enter a UEFA Champions League mat…

With central defender Axel Disasi powering home from close range in the final 10 minutes, a showdown against either Rangers or Saint Union is still hanging in the balance.

In a battle between two European powerhouses on Tuesday night, we have taken a look at the main talking points.

Wenger: ´Arsenal not title contenders´

Despite a 5-0 thrashing of Aston Villa on Sunday, Arsene Wenger does not believe his Arsenal side are Premier League title contenders.

Arsene Wenger believes it is too early to consider Arsenal Premier League title challengers after his side thrashed Aston Villa 5-0 on Sunday.

Arsenal are 11 points adrift of leaders Chelsea, despite easing past Paul Lambert s men to record three straight Premier League wins for the first time this season.

Wenger had predicted that the top two Chelsea and Manchester City  would draw on Saturday, yet although both teams did drop points, he does not envisage them slipping up to allow Arsenal into the race.

It s too early to say that, said Wenger when asked whether his team were now in the title race.

Rooney eyeing rebound season with Manchester United

Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney is hoping that the Red Devils can learn from last season s mistakes and avoid a trophyless campaign in 2012-13.

The 26-year-old England international returned to top form last season, baggin 37 goals and six assists in 53 appearances for club and country.

His 37-goal tally was 20 more than he netted in United s 2010-11 campaign. With that said, the Red Devils did win the English Premier League title that season.

Sir Alex Ferguson s side were eight points clear of noisy neighbors Manchester City with six league games remaining, but failed to hold onto their lead.

Subsequently, United finished as the runners-up, with City claiming their first league title since 1968.

I think we all learned a lot, Roo…

Lampard says best still to come from Gerrard double act

Frank Lampard admitted Tuesday that England fans have yet to see the best of him and Steven Gerrard but dismissed suggestions their failure to gel has been the root cause of the side s under-performance over recent years.

The Chelsea midfielder and his Liverpool counterpart look set to be given another chance to prove they can form an effective partnership in central midfield when England face Kazakhstan in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

But Lampard believes there is little to be gained from another round of discussion over whether the two players are too similar to be played together.

My view is that it is very important to talk about the team it is not about individuals, he said after England s first training session ahead of the Kazakhstan match and ne…

Lopetegui takes over Sevilla

Sevilla have got a new head coach. After departure of Pablo Machin and Joaquin Caparros, the club from Andalusia has decided on a man that is expected to return them to Champions League Julen Lopetegui.

Sevilla have announced they have appointed the 52-year-old Spaniard as manager on a three-year contract. Lopetegui will be getting a new start, after a disastrous 2018. Just two days before the start of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, he was sacked from the position of Spain s national team coach, as it was announced he was taking a deal with Real Madrid during Spain s preparations for the tournament.

After his appointment at Real Madrid, his team has done poorly that he was sacked just five months later and he will hope not to repeat such a nightmarish year. Having previ…

Arbeloa tells Real Madrid to sign Messi

Real Madrid have been urged to sign one of Lionel Messi s children by Alvaro Arbeloa after the Barcelona superstar revealed his son Mateo cheers for their LaLiga rivals.

Messi claimed another LaLiga title this season but Champions League and Copa del Rey defeats to Liverpool and Valencia respectively has seen the five-time Ballon d Or winner ruthlessly trolled by his own son.

Thiago never misses a match, Lionel Messi told TyC Sports. Mateo loves football, he wears all the shirts.

We were playing at home and he said to me, I m Liverpool, who beat you Valencia won, eh I m Valencia .

The TV is there, and he cheers Madrid s goals to annoy his brother. He s the one who is a Madrid fan.

Messi s comments caught the attention of former Madrid full-b…

Jol: Ruiz needs help in attack

Fulham boss Martin Jol believes he needs another creative playmaker to bring out the best in Bryan Ruiz.

Ruiz, 27, joined the Premier League outfit in a 10.6 million pound move from FC Twente in August 2011, but has scored just six goals in 60 appearances.
He bagged two of those in the 4-2 home defeat against Reading on Saturday and Jol has defended his signing s poor goal ratio, insisting that he had been played in midfield often and that he needed support in the attacking third.
He is one of my better players, Jol said of Ruiz.
He s always playing for the team and looking for runners to give that last pass. Maybe we need another passer.
The thing is you miss him in midfield (if you play him as a striker) and if he s not up front, he s playing too deep. That is my dilemma. …
