Euro 2012 qualifying preview: Perfect Dutch seek more points

The Netherlands head to Finland on Tuesday knowing a win would go a long way towards guaranteeing them a Euro 2012 berth.

The Dutch, flawless so far with 21 points from their seven games in Group E, lead Sweden and Hungary by six points with three games left to play, although Hungary have only two games left in their campaign.

Should the Netherlands win on Tuesday, and Sweden drop points from their visit to San Marino the same day, Bert van Marwijk s side would be sure of their place in Poland and the Ukraine.

The Dutch head to Finland in good scoring form, having struck 11 past the hapless San Marino on Friday, with Arsenal front man Robin van Persie scoring four, while Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Wesley Sneijder scored two apiece.

Hungary journey to Moldova knowing a defeat could end their hopes of qualification.

In Group A, Germany already have things wrapped up at the top but the battle for second place will be on in earnest when Turkey travel to Vienna to play Austria.

Turkey have a one-point lead, and a game in hand, over third-placed Belgium who do not play on Tuesday.

Group A s other match on Tuesday sees Azerbaijan host Kazakhstan, with both sides already out of the running for qualification.

Russia are two points ahead of the Republic of Ireland and Slovakia on top of Group B, and Armenia are still in contention five points off the leaders with all teams still having three games to play.

On Tuesday, Russia host the Republic of Ireland, Macedonia take on Andorra at home and Slovakia welcome Armenia to Zilina.

Italy can wrap up Group C with a win in Florence over second-placed Slovenia on Tuesday, while third-placed Serbia need a win at home against the Faroe Islands to stay in contention to take the group.

Fourth-placed Estonia, just one point adrift of Slovakia and Serbia, do battle with Northern Ireland in Tallinn needing three points to keep their push for second place, and a spot in the playoffs, going strong.

France top Group D by three points from Bosnia-Herzegovina, while Belarus are three points behind and Romania five adrift.

Bosnia host Belarus, while France journey to Bucharest to play Romania. Minnows Luxembourg play Albania in the group s other match.

Greece, the 2004 champions, hold a one-point lead over Croatia in Group F with both teams still to play three games.

Greece visit Latvia while Croatia welcome third-placed Israel, who are three points behind Croatia having played one game more.

England are three points ahead of second-placed Montenegro in Group G, but cannot afford a slip-up against Wales at Wembley on Tuesday with a trip to Montenegro still to come.

Switzerland, meanwhile, can pull within three points of Montenegro if they can defeat Bulgaria in Basel.

Group H is shaping as a thriller, with Portugal and Norway level on 13 points and both sides still having two matches to play. Denmark are three points behind, but have a game in hand on the top two.

Denmark take on Norway in Copenhagen in a crunch match, while Iceland and Cyprus both out of contention will be hoping for their first wins of the campaign when they meet in Reykjavik.

Group I leaders Spain can secure qualification with a home win against bottom-placed Liechtenstein, while the Czech Republic look to have second place sewn up after their 2-2 draw against Scotland on Friday.

Scotland must defeat Lithuania in Glasgow to have any hope of claiming second spot.
